Brambler Boutique is pleased to be an official Drop-Off location for the Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank. One in three American moms struggles to provide clean diapers for her children. Food stamps and WIC don’t cover diapers, and families often are forced to make tough decisions regarding day care and employment because they can’t afford diapers. Brambler accepts donations of disposable and cloth diapers during regular business hours. Volunteers from the Diaper Bank, a nonprofit organization affiliated with the National Diaper Bank Network, distribute diapers free to families in need through more than 40 social service Partner agencies in five counties of Western Pennsylvania.
In addition to accepting donations, a limited-edition line of baby onesies and toddler shirts designed by artist Jessi Cramer are available at Brambler Boutique. A portion of the proceeds of each shirt will be used to buy diapers for the Diaper Bank to distribute.
Jessi Cramer — mom, roller derby athlete, expert babywearer — works at Armature Tattoo Company in Bloomfield. She got her start as a tattooer with an apprenticeship in Wyoming and moved to Pittsburgh in 2012. She holds a BFA in theatre design and an MFA in screenwriting, but is self-taught as a painter and visual artist. Her design choices are heavily influenced by scientific illustration, Victorian decorative etching, Art Nouveau and traditional and neo-traditional tattooing. The design she created for Brambler draws on her love of intricate crosshatching and Victorian elements, while the soaring balloon and celestial images evoke the magical, adventurous joy of a parent/child love relationship.
